Information About the Polytechnic
·         Kaduna Polytechnic was established as Technical Institute in 1956 and became a full- fledged Polytechnic in April, 1968 vide Decree No. 20 of the same year. The Institution was, taken over by the Federal Government vide Decree No. 40 of 1991 and currently operates under the Federal Polytechnics Act, as amended in 2004.


Registrar

Job Description
o    The Registrar is a Principal Officer and he is responsible to the Rector for the day to day administration of the Polytechnic.
o    He is the Secretary to the Governing Council and all its Committees including the Academic Board.
o    He is responsible for keeping all records in the Institution and wills provide leadership in the Registry as well as perform such other duties as the Council may direct or as the Rector may from time to time require him to perform.

Requirements
o    Must be a holder of good honours degree or equivalent qualification, relevant to administration, from a recognized Higher Institution.
o    Must be registered with relevant professional bodies.
o    Masters degree will be an added advantage.
o    Must have at list 17 years post qualification cognate experience.
o    Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
o    Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Terms of Appointment
The appointment is for an initial period of 5 years, and renewable subject to satisfactory performance, for another term of 5 years, and no more. The salary and other conditions of service are as approved by the Federal Government.


Bursar

Job Description
o    The Bursar is a Principal Officer. He is the Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic and responsible to the Rector. The Bursar plans, organises, direct and coordinates the operation of the financial system of the Polytechnic.
o    He is also expected to prepare financial reports of the Polytechnic including income and expenditure at every meeting of the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
o    He is responsible for the production of draft annual estimates of income and expenditure, determine all accounting procedures and records of the Polytechnic accounting system.

Requirements
o    Must be a holder of good honours degree or its equivalent in Accountancy or Finance from a recognized institution of higher learning or equivalent professional accountancy qualification
o    Must be registered with either ICAN or ANAN as , professional bodies.
o    Masters degree will be an added advantage.
o    Must have at least 17 years post qualification cognate experience.
o    Must be proficient in information and Communication Technology (ICT)
o    Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Director of Works

Job Description
o    The Director of Works is responsible to the Rector for the overall control of Works and Services Department.
o    He provides strategies for the provision of efficient services in line with the Institutional goals.
o    He advises the Rector on the acquisition of assets for the Polytechnic and also plans the operation of plants and machinery as well as the maintenance of buildings in the constituent units of the Polytechnic.
o    He is expected to prepare the Works Department budget and exercise budgetary control. He ‘keeps inventory of the Polytechnic vehicles and responsible for their maintenance.

Requirements
o    Must be a holder of good honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building or Architecture, from a recognized University.
o    Must be registered with relevant professional bodies.
o    Masters degree will be an added advantage.
o    Must have at least 17 years post qualification cognate experience.
o    Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
o    Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Terms of Appointment
The appointment is career appointment. The salary and other conditions of service are as approved by the Federal Government.
